Marble gallops into the land, and immediatly stops under an apple tree. She walks over to the clear, blue water of the river. She drops her head, and looks at her reflection. She feeles a warm feeling on both sides of her, She looks again at the reflection, and sees the reflection of the ghost of her mother and father. She blinks, and they dissapear. She then feels a empty spot in her heart, she realized her parents had left her then. She knows that spot can only be filled by another loving mother and father. She lowers her head and takes a drink. But no matter how much she tries to fill that empty spot, it will never fill unless she gets the love and care of her mother and father. She walks back over to the apple tree, and eats a few small apples off the ground. She curls up at the trunk of the tree, and drifts off to sleep with tears rolling down her check. The breeze was cold, and she shivered. Life was just not going her way.........................

Rose and Angel walked into looking for Jumper. Rose heard the faint sobs. They stopped dead in their tracks, muscles tightened, and ready to run if necessary. Rose took a few more tiny steps foward, closer to the sobbing. Rose pricked her ears up, and flared her nostrils. She picked up the sent of a little filly, probably about 5 or 6 months old. "Angel, come here." She nickered to her filly. Angel tensely, and slowly walked toward her dam. "Come on.....it's okay." Rose told her filly. Angel began to relax, and walk briskly in front of her dam. "Angel! Get back here! Don't go to close.....we don't know what she's like." Rose warned her flicka. "You stay here.......hide under one of these trees." Rose told Angel lifting up a branch of an evergreen for the filly to hide under. "Stay here. Do not go anywhere unless it's nessecary." Rose told the flicka. "OK mom, got it." Angel told her dam. Rose drooped the branch as soon as Angel was under there, and pulled a few other branches over her to try to completely hide her. Rose trotted off to the young flicka. "Hello there young one.....now don't be scared.....I'm nice.....come now......I won't hurt you......Are you all alone out here? This is no place for a young'n like you to be." Rose told the little filly trying to coax her awake.

The young flicka jerked awake. She tried to get up, and stumbled awakwardly. Marble got up again, and ran quickly and awakwardly away from the mare coming after her. She fell against another tree trunk. She coward in fear as the mare came closer to her. "D...d...d....don't hurt me! P....p....p...please, d...d....d...don't hurt me!"

No don't ya worry now young flicka. Ima not gonna hurt ya. Relax. Stay there. Rose told the flicka who was in need of a dam. Rose started to bend down on her knees, and lay with the flicka. Now I can see you need a mother. Well a horrible tragedy has happened in our herd. Spirit's mother, Ezperanza, has passed over. Her daughter, Amira, is heartbroken. I was going to take you in under my wing, and nurse you back to health. Then when you are ready you can go to live with her. I have another flicka named Angel. A little older than you, but still close to your age. Now how would you like to go with me, and live with me, Jumper, and Angel? Then when you are ready, with Amira. How does that sound young'n?
